As pfAdvice and Retire Young and Wealthy have done, I post below a picture of my desk. This desk is brand spankin’ new - this is actually the first night I have used it and you can see from the empty shelves that my wife has yet to put her womanly touch on it.

We built this desk to provide a spot for two computers - one for my wife and I and one for the kids. There is also a TV in the middle which provides a spot for the kids to watch their DVDs and to play their (our) Sony Playstation. This will let me keep an eye on their future internet use and provide for a place for them and I to retreat to get some work done or just chill out.

Man, I had a real scare today. I had been wondering over the past couple of days why I had not been getting any comments on any of my blogs. My busy schedule did not allow me to dig in and look for it, but then Mark was kind enough to email me and asked why his comments had not been making it on this blog. This freaked me out.

I started to do a bit of research, and ultimately found the problem. Last week I updated the .htaccess file for The Running Guy, The Dividend Guy, and this site to do a 301-redirect from, for example http://theinternetcashflowguy.com to http://www.theinternetcashflowguy.com. My research showed that this potentially had a better impact on SEO.

However, within Wordpress there is are two settings under the options tab for:

1. WordPress address (URI):
2. Blog address (URI):

Both these settings were still set to point to the non-www links, and ultimately were not being redirected to the correct comments section in some of the php code for the site. When a user went to submit a comment, all they saw was a blank screen and the comments never hit the database. As soon as I pointed these settings to the www versions of the address, everything worked fine. Whew!!

What is the morale of the story here - test, test, and re-test. Test everything. Resist the urge to do too much tinkering with your site, unless you are willing to put up with some unintended consequences.

The first few days of this month have been a good start with respect to income received from my various online endeavors. I want to think that the reason for the increase is that I am writing better quality posts, but I also think that part of it is that I am posting more often to each of the blogs.

My Adsense income is already up to $19.10 for the month, with the majority coming from The Dividend Guy.

I have also recorder another $9 from LinkWorth which is brand new income for me. I am hoping this amount increases of course, by placing more ads on the site.

There has been $0 from Chitika. I have not focused on this program at all and do not expect to receive much from the program.

AlbertaTourist.com is still not doing well. Last week I submitted the site to a few travel related sites, but I am starting to think that the webspace for travel related sites is so congested that to get any recognition it is very difficult. When I designed that site way back when, I only chose to do this site because I know about Calgary and Edmonton and Alberta in general. I did zero research on the keywords - looking at it now there are few searches with LOTS of Google results. Getting anywhere in terms of SEO will be difficult at best.
