Blogging for Profits - Why You Need To Have a Long Term Plan

February 26th, 2008
If you are among those seeking to begin blogging for profit you are not alone. It doesn’t take all that much special know-how to succeed in the blogging for profit. You simply have to be willing to consistently put out the effort to learn, understand, and apply blogging technology to your pursuit.

If it were any easier, most people would be blogging for profit. However, most of those who attempt to blog for profit fail because they do not do their due diligence in planning out their blogs and they abandon their blogs when they do not see instant results to their blogging efforts. This usually stems from people having unrealistic expectations about how easy blogging for profit should be. Basically, blogging for profit comes down to whether or not you really want it. Do you have what it takes to make a high-quality blogging plan and stick to it when readership is low?

The fact is, blogging for profit is contingent on establishing a large, consistent readership base. Advertisers are not going to pay you money if you are not sending them customers. So your blog has to have something to offer the readers that is motivating enough for them to visit your blog. Being different is not longer all that is necessary to make a blog successful. There are so many “different” blogs out there that “different” has become the “same old thing” to jaded blog readers. Blogging for profit is about effective marketing.

Many fail at blogging for profit because they do not take a balanced approach to blogging and marketing. Many spend too much time marketing a blog and not enough time adding interesting posts to the blog. Others, spend far too much time in their own little blog posting worlds to take note of whether anyone is reading their blogs. Both blogging regularly and following a marketing plan are necessary for most new blogs to become profitable. Concentrate on balancing the two aspects of your blog. If you can learn how to both make interesting blog posts on a regular basis and follow a marketing plan for pulling in new blog readers, you will be on your way toward blogging for profit.

All along your path you need to keep in mind that even with a well-written blog and a solid marketing plan, it takes time to build subscription based businesses. You may not think of blogging for profit as a subscription based business, but in a sense it is. Your readers have to be inspired to invest their time into visiting your blog regularly in order for you to succeed. Until you have a large readership base taking the time to read your blog regularly, you have to be persistent. Don’t let slow times stop you from following your blogging for profit plan.

Everybody can blog but not every blogger makes money! If you are serious about wanting to make money blogging, then make sure you pick up the essential guide at http://www.blogforprofits.info and find out how you can get set up your blog correctly and start blogging for profits from the very first day.

WordPress - Before The Blog

February 18th, 2008
What do you want your blog to accomplish? Hint, hint, the answer is not to make money (well, ultimately, it is), but before you can make money, you have to decide on many things. The first one is: What do you want your blog to accomplish? Why are you getting a presence on the web? Or, why do you already have a presence on the web? What is yourpurpose? And, what do you want the purpose of your blog to be? These may seem like some tough questions as we go along, but they’re really critical (critical to your success). So we are going to talk in depth about a lot of these things.

Next is: What is the title of your blog? The title is what will appear in the browser bar when people are on your site. You want to use keywords in your title because the title can either help or hurt your SEO and the effect of how people see you. It’s really critical for people and for your SEO that you get the title right.

Now you need to write a brief Elevator Speech for your blog. Do you all know what an elevator speech is? It’s what you can say about yourself in the amount of time that it takes an elevator to go wherever an elevator is going. You need this for your blog too, because it’s going to go in the meta tag of your blog for SEO purposes (SEO - Search Engine Optimization). So, people in your blog won’t actually see this description, but Google, Yahoo, MSN, whatever search engines are spidering your blog will see it. This description is what will appear when you are indexed and you get listed as a search result. If you have ever searched for anything (and I’m sure you have) on Google, then you know that the title comes up and then underneath that title there is a little, not quite paragraph, but several lines of text about the title. This is where your description will appear, so make it good, make it so that people will want to click on the title of the result and go to your blog to read it. Don’t just say, This blog is about… Say what your purpose really is.

These are just a few of the ‘before the blog’ tips you need to consider. Now I’d like to invite you to http://www.thewordpresswizard.com for more information on WordPress and on blogging.

Set Yourself a Schedule To Make Sure YOU Succeed Online!

February 5th, 2008
Online businesses are much different than its traditional brick and mortar counterpart. Working online affords you the opportunity to do many things that a traditional business does not. High at the top of the list is the freedom it gives you. Freedom to take breaks when you want to, to work when you feel like it and to decide not to work whenever you please. While this sounds like a good thing, it often causes many to take too many breaks.

Inaction is a problem amongst online business owners. Often, we find ourselves reading forum posts and sales page after sales page that we find a few hours have passed and we have done nothing. It is easy to get caught up in the NEXT big thing and the NEXT big opportunity that we shuck the projects we have been working on and jump ship to the latest money making schemes.

There is a great term for this of which I am unsure who the originator was. The term is analysis paralysis. Reading too much, thinking too much and not taking any sort of action. We get too worried that we will fail or we take too much time rethinking an article or squeeze page that we do not do anything about it.

The great Wayne Gretzky once said, “You miss one hundred percent of the shots that you do not take.” If you don’t do anything, then don’t expect anything. Failure is a part of business. Failure is not a bad thing and in my opinion is essential to success. Failure is the world’s greatest teacher. While some may hit a home run right out of the gate, many will not.

Deciding to take action and keep taking action while learning how to use failure as a teaching tool will be the difference between success and being just another failed business owner.

If you are serious about making your online business a success then you need to start treating it as a business and not a hobby. Being at home makes it easier for you not to take any action. Setting a daily schedule of tasks will get you on the right track. For example you can start to set daily, weekly and even monthly tasks and goals. Set a to do list of things to complete such as writing five articles or updating your web site with fresh content. Setting such a schedule forces you to take action and forces you to get things done daily. Once you have completed your tasks then allow yourself to read forum posts or do other online surfing.

If you look at successful online business owners, you will find one common thing. There is one thing that separates them - they all are action takers and doers, not action observers. If you want to succeed in your online business, then you need to get in the game and start taking some shots. You may not make all of them, but the ones you do will be ever so sweet.
