Blog Profitability Series: Introduction - Day 1

September 17th, 2007
First off, thanks to Technology Corner for posting this weeks Carnival of Making Money Online. Check out my article, and others by visiting their site.

I see a lot of good posts on strategies to make money on the web. There seems to be a real concerted effort to identify the strategies, tools, and techniques required to generate income. One area that I feel that has not been covered is assessing blog profitability.

We all spend a lot of time on our blogs -tweaking and writing for our #1 purpose - building traffic. While we do this, we try different affiliate programs or other monetizing vehicles to generate as much income as possible. Many, including myself, do it on multiple blogs and sites. The missing thing for me has been to get an understanding of how each of these sites has been doing from a profit and lose perspective.

As a basic need in my own blogging activities, and to help other bloggers with their own analysis, I have decided to run a series of posts that will assist bloggers in developing a process to gauge their own blog profitability. I suspect that this will take about 5 separate posts to cover.

What will you achieve from going through this series? You will have an understanding of a profit and lose statement, the tools to analyze your own financial performance, and a clear picture of how your sites are really doing. I am looking forward to it!
