What the heck is a blog carnival? Well, until recently, I was asking the same question. According to different sources and forums on the web like wiki and other websites, it is a large collection of blog posts in one blog post. This basically looks like RSS feed on a blog post. All of the posts are related to a single topic because it is obviously more effective if people know that the posts are all related to the same thing. For example, a dog blog carnival will look like a bunch of permalinks to different other blogs with a blurb of what the blog is about.

You can see how this kind of event is beneficial to all who are involved. The person who creates the carnival post will get good content and become a directory of information that will bring loyal readers. More people will prefer to bookmark the site that leads to a larger quantity of information. The people who are involved in the writing of blog posts will also get the benefits of links and traffic to there site.

If you join one of these blog carnivals, you will benifit from extra exposure and traffic which is really the main stream of traffic that leads to advertising income and so forth. Usually blog carnivals are conducted like a magazine or newsletter and published one a week or so. In addition, since it is a blog post, you can also be awarded with your blog post link getting even more exposure when the blog carnival post is dugg or placed on some kind of social bookmarking site. If it reaches the first page of one of the social bookmarking sites, you will see a boost of at least 10k visits. The best part is that you only did part of the work. The rest of the work was done by other bloggers in the community.

If you are interested in something like this, just do a quick search on blog carnivals and how to join one and you will see how many people are also interested in something like this as well. You can also check out forums related to internet marketing and start a joint venture with a dozen people or so that are interested in this. Basically, you would only have to write the posts and the carnival site would have to use advertising methods, you will get the traffic from that site.
