It is official, I am earning revenue from Orchid Care Info. As of today, I have had 385 page impressions according to Google with earnings of $0.27. Not a huge amount of money but better than a kick in the ol’ cahones!

I still need to do some things to the site.

1. Remove the Firefox link at the bottom to ensure that people do not have any reason to leave my site.
2. Figure out how to change the permalinks so that the links show up as more descriptive - I still cannot get this to work. I am certain now that it is a bug in Wordpress 2.0.2 so I am going to give it a rest until my host provides me with an updated version.
3. Add another article to keep the site growing.
4. Add the link to the site on all of my other sites.
5. Continue to ask for link exchanges.

Any other suggestions on what I should do to maximize my earnings. Let me know.

Due to 1off’s suggestions I have spent the night trying to update the links to the various pages within Orchid Care Info to use permalinks as opposed to numbers. What I am trying to do is go from this:

This is simply to help with SEO for my sites. This site also suffers from the same problem as does The Running Guy. The only site I have working is The Dividend Guy. The difference is the I am running an older version of Wordpress on The Dividend Guy (1.5) versus 2.0.2 for the other three sites.

I go to the options tab in Wordpress, change the permalink structure, and it tells me I have to update my .htaccess. I do that but when I then try to click on the links I go to a 404 page not found. I have done some searching on the web but none of the suggestions have not worked. Does anyone have any insight into what is going on here. I am in desperate need of help!!!

I have done it. The site is now up and live. Drum roll please - I have successfully published my new niche content site: http://orchidcareinfo.com.

The next step is to focus on the promotion of the site. To do this, I will be focusing on the following over the next few weeks:

1. Submitting the sites to the various search engines (Google, MSN, and Yahoo!)
2. Requesting a listing in free directory sites such as DMOZ.org.
3. Using ISEDB.com to identify other directories that I can get my site listed at. This one takes some time to identify relevant directories but can be well worth it.
4. Do some link building by scouring the web for sites that will be willing to do some exchanging of links.

As you will notice, the most important aspect of this step is the building of links so that people will be able to easily find me. I will keep you all updated on my progress and success (or failure) of the site.
